This is very exciting Kamaishi is the best!! 7 years since the disaster… Regain hope Build a stadium of revival To host the Rugby World Cup Kamaishi City sustained severe damage from the earthquake and tsunami disaster on March 11th, 2011 From our point of view, we are starting from nothing At first, I thought it was impossible I feel so grateful the Rugby World Cup will be held here, even though everything was swept away by the tsunami I’m very happy that the Rugby World cup, an event that takes place only once in a few years, will take place here in Kamaishi of Iwate Prefecture. It would be great to use this opportunity to continue rebuilding this area. “Itsuka Kono Umi wo Koete” (Hirahara Ayaka & Kamaishi Higashi JHS students) (Rui Horaguchi, Kamaishi High School student) This stadium is built where our elementary school once stood, and where we would have attended junior high school. It is an important place where we can reunite with friends that have left us. We fill this stadium with gratitude and today, we depart towards the future. I am so filled with emotion, I just might cry I hope Kamaishi can become a lively place and hold more rugby events from here on. I hope this can enliven Kamaishi. (Mr. Noda, Mayor of Kamaishi) We are very grateful to the people of the world for supporting the disaster-affected areas. We will use that support to help people continue living here in Kamaishi. (Ayumu Goromaru) I want Kamaishi to continue building their story This may be the only stadium filled with this much emotion I beleive succeeding at Kamaishi Stadium is a great acheivement for the Rugby World Cup. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the location The scenery around the stadium is really beautiful The people are lovely The food was tasty. Mmm, it’s fantastic! Everyone, please come to Kamaishi! Yaaaaaaaay! Do your best, JAPAN!
