Primary schools around Auckland are getting ready
for the Rugby World Cup. Today was the launch of the
Maori aspect of the program being presented to schools
throughout Auckland. The purpose of this venture
is to involve children in this prestigious event.
Heta Gardiner has this report. A program in Maori for Maori. Richmond Road Primary School got
the first look at the new packs. Almost 3000 packs will dispersed
throughout Maori immersion schools and Maori classrooms
around Auckland. The mayor feels Maori
rightfully take their place in the arrangements. This program promotes
the Rugby World Cup by providing rugby resources
and training for teachers. Even though rugby is the main focus, a wider look at sports
is the bigger picture. These programs will run
through to the world cup. Heta Gardiner, Te Karere.
