big event coming up next week it’s the Rugby League World Cup qualifier and here to tell us all about it I have Jerome Vivi a player and Sean Rogerson with Team USA and before we go into all the details I met Sean in the summer and you kind of gave me a little bit of an introduction cheer rugby with the Axman by the way who are the champions so I just want to show everybody the video right now behind the scenes look at rugby and this is my nervous laugh questioning what I just got myself into you guys not skip leg day take it huh and after getting coached up I’m running with the ball it was time to learn how to tackle bang I see get on that bull hold that ball good come back a bit Jaden Rana in batata this guys tagged him on ok good alright I just I had to show that again because I learned so much about rugby I played football I did a little bit of wrestling a long time ago and soccer and rugby really is a combination of everything so when it comes to the tournament coming to town next week it really should draw a lot of people to get behind this because it’s such a great sport that’s what what happened exactly will happen want to expose people to our sport and hopefully get a big crowd there to support the us the national team and yeah get a win so we qualify for the World Cup in England and it’s at UNF right here in our backyard it’s easy to do there’s going to be two games correct yeah there’ll be two double headers two games on Tuesday not the 13th and another two games on the the next Saturday night the 17th in Jerome now you’re from Australia so congratulations on being on Team USA what position do you play play fun row and a bit on the edge but I mainly play in the middle so that’s the big guys tough guys that knowing deal with the stuff no one wants to do so you’re so gentle seeming right now use your soft-spoken but this is a tough man’s game isn’t it yeah well as soon as that here it goes and you know you run out of that that somehow changes everything’s in the back door and you going war so that’s how they teach us Pekka knows do you find that a lot of people here in Jacksonville specifically not even just in the USA know much about rugby or you constantly having to explain yeah we do have to explain a lot of people know now that there’s two types of rugby and most Americans are familiar with rugby union that’s the other code there’s a rugby league it’s a bit there’s more contact more separation and more yeah it’s a bit different here’s a question Jerome where’s your equipment no helmets what do you guys who are just really a mouthguard that’s it right yeah mouth guard if you want no up players get what optional they strap them on pop yeah you know you know what it reminds me of it reminds me of when you know my kid used to just get out in the backyard and play let’s just say football whatever they did for their friends and then it would end up in a big old wrestling background they didn’t know at the time but they were kind of playing rugby a lot of wrestling a lot of contact and no stoppage limited interchange the players that are on the field are pretty much got to stay there and you know makes for an exciting game well definitely right now we just wanna leave everybody with all the details because it is an exciting game and you have to go out there and you have to support them so here are some of the information right here so it is the World Cup qualifier yep and you see it on your screen right now it is at UNF at the soccer field like Mark said and there are two games starts at five o’clock and the thing about this is that there are some discounts as well for military and so forth and then I think it’s a fifteen dollar ticket that gets you into the doubleheader as well you buy the one which both games the other thing I sort throw out there to your website is us ARL dot org so you could go there learn more but also they’re raising funds because as you saw from some of that video they travel and it’s a way to support the team and help them out with some of the things Raoul all the players have come from Australia and in England they have to pay their own way to get here we provide accommodation and and and food when they’re here but they have to get themselves here and that’s just the nature of the beast with a becoming sport until we get some major sponsors on would help us out flies are gonna pay their way including me absolutely lucky Olivia so well thanks again for everything we’re gonna link everything to our website River City live TV comm stick around more to come right after this [Music]
