My name is Megan Morgan. I am the program
director at DASA. I have probably one of the best jobs in the world. I get to plan
recreation and competitive programs for our athletes with physical disabilities. We
have wheelchair rugby for individuals who have impairment in three of their four
limbs. Most of the athletes have spinal cord injuries. It’s a fast-paced the
high-impact sport and it’s just a great opportunity for those individuals to know
that they’ve got an opportunity to be competitive and to get back into sports.
It is a Paralympic sport. We have two athletes on our team right now who are
on Team USA and we are very fortunate to have our head coach who is the
assistant coach for the USA wheelchair rugby team. Wheelchair rugby
is a great way to get back into sports. You can be competitive you can
travel the world with this sport. You can meet people who have an ability that is
like yours. I think it’s a great learning experience especially somebody who is
newly injured to realize that they’re not stuck. They show that life
still happens after a spinal cord injury. I absolutely love being part of this
family and I wouldn’t trade it.
