Discovery Point on the West Rim Ski/Snowshoe Trail

Articles Blog

Hey guys, it’s Ranger John, and I’m here at
Crater Lake at Discovery Point on the West Rim Ski Trail. And, it’s a beautiful day. It’s Monday, December 4, 2017. We got almost a foot of snow this weekend,
and now it’s sunny and cold. Ah, I don’t know how cold exactly, maybe 25
degrees (F). And, a bit breezy. But, this is how rewarding it can be to come
ski at Crater Lake National Park, or snowshoe, or to just play in the snow near the parking
lot. But, you do need to be prepared for hidden
hazards, whether it’s on the road or on the mountainside. So, make sure you check out our winter safety
videos. We have one for driving, and one for being
safe in the mountains on skis or snowshoes, as well. And make sure you come prepared with snowshoes
rented, or you can rent them here if you’re here between 10 pm and 4 pm, and the gift
shop is open. Otherwise, you’re going to need just about
everything to play in the snow, and everything in case of an emergency if you get stuck on
the road. So, watch those videos and see what the details
are for that, and prepare yourselves to come up and have a great time. Alright folks, we’ll see you later. Bye!
