Faction Candide Thovex CT 2.0 – 2020 Ski Review

Articles Blog

Hi I’m Nick from Snowtrax.
I’m the head ski tester and ski buyer for the store. I’m going to talk to you today about the Faction CT 2.0. Firm favourite with the guys here at Snowtrax and all
of us have skied on this ski and absolutely loved it. Over the past few
seasons, you know there’s been various versions and this is the latest the 2020
version I’ve got in my hand. What can I say? It’s a fun ski! When we were out sort
of testing these earlier in the year my colleague was was there sort of like
playing around on them and I had the camera in my hand trying to get a few
shots and I could just see he was just having fun! He was just laughing, hitting
all the little side hits, attempted to do a backflip which I think on second take he
might and nailed it. Did end up on the floor but the whole point is is it’s fun it’s
fun the idea is to sort of you know hit hit little lips, pop little jumps, 180s,
360s, bit buttering & jibbing around. That’s what it’s all about.
So the idea behind this ski is 102 underfoot so you know reasonable width
to give you, one a solid landing platform, but also you know if you’re getting off
piste into the backcountry hitting some backcountry booters etc, you’ve got
enough width of ski there. The tip and tails are a really really nice and soft
and playful so that’s all about getting getting into the you know the popping
and the jumping and the messing around you know they’re really really nice and
playful and that’s what we really noticed is just so easy to just
get up onto the tips and the tails you know they’re not really solid, but
underneath the foot there’s a little bit more stability there so that does help
with the landings and also for macking around the piste I mean it’s not purely
a freestyle ski. It’s a good freeride ski as well I mean you can blast
around all over the place and you know you get plenty of performance out of the
middle of the ski so don’t underestimate it. Graphics look really good this
season as well especially out on the snow it’s got this kind of like matte
kind of finish with the lines on it looks really cool carries through the
rest of the CT range as well. They’ve also introduced a ladies version
so you can see that on our website as well so that’s new for this season. So
sum up; if you’re wanting to get out there to do a bit of everything
Mac around the mountain but your your kind of freestyle orientated and you
want to be you know hitting lips doing jumps playing around
then CT 2.0 is definitely one to think about. You’ve got a few choices on
bindings I mean this is actually mounted with the Salomon warden a lot of these we sell go with a Marker Griffin or maybe a Look Pivot something like that there’s a few options out there so if you’re not sure what binding you want just get in
touch we can give you give you some options and steer in the right direction
for your needs. In terms of size as well I’ve got the 1 7 8 here but obviously
it comes slightly longer and slightly shorter as well. So, I say in all my reviews just
you know give us a shout because size is this very personal as to what
length of ski you’ll need, depending on you know it’s not just your your weight
and height it’s where you’re going with a ski what you’re doing with it personal
choice in terms of what you like in ski length and your aggression level
as well so if you’re not sure give us a shout and we can steer you in the
right direction
