How to Play Women’s Lacrosse : Positions on the Field in Women’s Lacrosse

Alright now we are just going to talk about
some of the different positions on the field. This is how players set up in the very beginning
when the players do a draw to start the game. You have both centers from each team to do
the draw and set up around the circle you have both teams’ left and right attack wings,
and both teams’ left and right defensive wings, and they set up on each other, if you can
see, the left attack goes with the left defensive wing, and so on. And this is the offensive
side for the red team if you can see, and you set up with third man who’s kind of area
is right here, they go above and below the restraining line. Third home, excuse me, and
second home who always stays above the restraining line on offense. And first home who is really
very close to the goal at all times, they are there to make the plays happen. And as
far as defense goes, start back here on the black team because this is their goal that
they are defending. You have their goalie, who is in there, the point who marks up on
the first home and always stays above the restraining line as well as the cover point
who marks up on the second home and stays above the restraining line. And the third
man who goes above and below the restraining line marking up on third home when you are
playing a man defense. And it is just opposite here because this is the red team’s goal that
they are defending, so they have their defensive players here and the black team has their
offensive players. And as far as players’ kind of areas that they are working with,
the wings, the attack wings, when the red team, who is going toward this goal, their
attack wings go above and below the restraining line. But it generally works out that you
cannot because the center normally goes above the restraining line. It generally works out
that you can only have one of your defensive wings go over the restraining line and so
you just want to watch for that so that you do not go offsides. So you either decide in
the beginning of the game who is always going to go over the line or you make a decision
based on the situation on the field. And that is visa versa for the black team.
