KOAA Athlete of the Week: Wiley Burkett, Cheyenne Mountain Lacrosse

the first boys lacrosse state title south of Denver lies at Cheyenne Mountain High School the Indians eyeing back-to-back titles and our athlete of the week trying to get them back there you can thank the power of mom for Wiley Burkett playing lacrosse a friend’s mom that is used to play soccer we don’t like soccer and we’re like what can we play and she was like I saw a flyer for lacrosse team you guys should go and he went to like just play sports again something like that or got a bunch of gear went out and started playing just kind of fell in love with it the feeling is mutual when you watch him on the field Wiley leads Cheyenne Mountain in goals and has guided the Indians back to the top spot in the 4a polls and scoring goals is what he does best he’s got 23 so far from all angles but he does love the short ones the best what’s your favorite goal favorite goal probably catching a pass from the middie up top and throwing a fake and finishing VTV I’d say plays box lacrosse and so that really gives him a lot of ball control in tight with a lot of pressure on him so he’s really he’s a captain he’s a leader on our team and he’s just done a fabulous job while he was a big part of the 4a state championship team last year and feels like the target on their backs this year has never been bigger like us winning it kind of definitely put a light on Coral Springs for sure and kind of like let people know that we can still we can definitely play down here it’s not just Envy no doubt about that Wiley Burkett of Cheyenne Mountain lacrosse your Colorado Springs orthopedic group athlete of the week
