Maori talent shines in Roosters side

Articles Blog

Some real Maori talent
have arrived with the Roosters to upset the Warriors. This is their second clash against
the team this year in the NRL. It’s a game that saw
the Warriors get hammered in the fifth round of the NRL. The Kiwi boys of the team
were put before the media today. Sam Perrett says although
he has some good mates in the Warriors’ team,
when it comes to the game, it’s all on. It’ll be up to the props
to lead the way, and there’s no one better
than Jared Waerea-Hargraves to do the job. The game is the main focus, but it’s also important for these
Maori descendants to come back home. To another Maori descendant
who’s preparing his Lions team for the clash against
his old team, the Blues. Tonight, we’ll see
which team wants it more, and tomorrow we’ll see the Warriors
seek revenge against the Roosters. Irena Smith, Te Karere. Our sports commentator
Tumamao Harawira joins us now. To rugby, the two teams
at the bottom go head-to-head. Who will win – Blues and Lions? As I was sleeping last night, in
my dreams I saw the Blues winning. But in previous years I would
have picked the Lions to lose, but with the Blue doing so badly, I’m leaning towards
the Lions to win. You and I both. Carlos Spencer has played
for the Blues in past, but will he go easy on the team seeing as he’s now on the coaching
staff for the Lions? No doubt. We know what Carlos Spencer is like
and how he was important to the Blues in 96-97. Further to that, he may even come
back to coach the Blues. There’s also some speculation
around John Kirwan, but I think it should be left
to Spencer and John Mitchell to coach the Blues. Highlanders vs Hurricanes;
Aaron Smith vs TJ Perenara. Aaron Smith is being touted
for the All Blacks this year? I really support that notion seeing
as he’s worked hard over the year. But let’s not forget that Aaron
Smith is still a young new-comer just like TJ Perenara. He’ll no doubt be put
in the team at some stage. But I believe Ellis and Weepu
will remain in the team for this year at least.
For next year, who knows? Let’s talk about your team –
the Warriors against the Roosters. Jared Waerea-Hargraves proved vital in their win over the Warriors
in their last clash. Will it be like that again? Well, let’s say that loss leaves
a bitter taste in the mouth. Within the last 3-4 weeks,
Ben Matulino has come in as one of the real standouts
of the game, so, like I said, a bitter taste, but it’s going
to be a tough game. Tumamao Harawira,
thank you for joining us.
