The Mitre 10 Cup provincial rugby
competition kicks off next week and today marked the launch for all the teams with players
spending some time with the next generation
in South Auckland, planting the seed for the future. Irena Smith has the story. Sowing the seeds that will see some
new talent grown in the future. Some of the stars
of provincial teams from around the country gathered. This season sees players coming home
after stints playing overseas. Andre Taylor says overseas contracts
can be lucrative but he is proud to come home
and give back to his home union. But for some although the hunger
is there to play, injury means they won’t
get the opportunity this season. Leaving it up to those players fit
to give it all for their teams like Sam Henwood
at Counties Manukau. An example for these champs
of tomorrow to follow. Irena Smith, Te Karere.
