To sports now,
the All Blacks, the ITM Cup, and the NRL are all hot
on every sport’s fans minds at the moment. Here’s Raniera Harrison
with this report. No surprises here, but a lot of shattered dreams. The Northland Taniwha bandwagon continued to steamroll
the Bay of Plenty in their ITM Cup Championship
in Mt Maunganui last night. The game went tit for tat after Northland raced out
to an early 10 point lead in as many minutes. But the Bay of Plenty showed they weren’t ready
to be steamrolled, running in two unanswered tries. But it wasn’t enough
with Northland reaffirming why this is their best year
in recent memory. The end score 30-27. Turning now to the All Blacks, the talk of the town
is Taranaki descendant, Beauden Barrett stepping out for his second start
in the Number 10 jersey against the Pumas in the Rugby Championship
this weekend. Barrett will be working together
with new midfielder, Malakai Fekitoa, who takes on
the Number 12 jersey tomorrow. Tonight signals the first
of the NRL elimination finals. It’s the battle for Sydney – the South Sydney Rabbitohs
vs Sydney City Roosters. But star fullback Greg Inglis
is looking to relax before unleashing
on the battlefield tonight. And it’s another NZ
rising star from the Roosters who will be looking to do away
with Inglis tonight. Tomorrow is the second
elimination final between the Panthers
and the Bulldogs. Raniera Harrison, Te Karere.
